JProf. Dr. Simon Hensellek starts his junior professorship

Simon Hensellek holds the junior professorship for Entrepreneurship and Digitalization since April 1, 2020.

Simon Hensellek studied Management & Economics at the Ruhr University Bochum and studied abroad at the Tongji University in Shanghai and the Utrecht University School of Economics. He received his doctorate from the University of Duisburg-Essen, where he worked as a research assistant and post-doctoral researcher in the Department of E-Business and E-Entrepreneurship. Studies of his cumulative dissertation were awarded prizes such as the "Best Paper on International Entrepreneurship Award" (ACERE Conference 2018).

 

In his research and teaching, Simon Hensellek pursues a triad of entrepreneurship, innovation, and digitalization. In particular, he focuses on entrepreneurial behaviors (e.g. bricolage) and strategies (e.g. entrepreneurial orientation) as well as digital innovations (e.g. digital prototyping) and business models (e.g. platform economy). Research topics include young, innovative growth companies (startups) as well as established companies in the context of digital transformation (e.g., digital leadership). Simon publishes his research in international journals such as Electronic Markets or Journal of Business Research and regularly presents his research results at national and international conferences such as the Academy of Management Annual Meeting (AOM).
