On October 21, 2021, Professor Hensellek held the introduction presentation at the general meeting of the Lichttechnische Gesellschaft Ruhrgebiet e.V. (LTGR) with the topic: "Lighting control with the smartphone: What happens to my data in the ecosystem?".

In his presentation, Simon Hensellek gave an overview of current events around the topics of smart lighting and smart home as well as the associated potentials through digital platforms and ecosystems. In particular, he highlighted that there are currently still great opportunities in the smart home sector for the involvement of German and European players, including those from the lighting and home automation sectors. "Fortunately, the game in this area is not yet completely decided," he said, based on current industry data and facts. Following Professor Hensellek's impulses, the startup VREEDA presented its digital smart home platform "Made in Germany."

The LTGR is the only district association of the German Lighting Technology Association (LiTG) and is also active beyond the Ruhr region in Emsland, the Lower Rhine, Münsterland, Sauerland and Siegerland. The approximately 400 LTGR members and all other LiTG members regularly have the opportunity to attend lectures and to network at the bases in Düsseldorf, Essen, Münster, Lüdenscheid, Siegen, Arnsberg, Dortmund and Paderborn. Everything revolves around the topics of light, lighting and lighting technology.
