How smart are citizens' lives today and what hopes and concerns do they associate with smart home and smart city applications? This is exactly what the BMBF-funded research project “Opt-IN: Optimizing informational sustainability for citizens in data ecosystems” is looking into. We aim to develop and research innovative digital smart home and smart city solutions (“Made in Germany”) with high customer benefits and simultaneous data sovereignty.

Dortbunt brought together many people from different areas on the first weekend in May and created space for lively discussions and innovation.

At the stand of our Opt-IN team near the Reinoldi Church, citizens were able to take part in our study on smart homes and smart cities and even win great prizes such as the “Mika soccer light” from our project partner VREEDA or the book “E-Business-Generator” by Dr. Simon Hensellek.

Numerous visitors took part in our survey and exchanged ideas and information about data sensitivity and communication in the smart home and smart city fields. It was intriguing to see how interest in privacy is growing in the digital world and how awareness of data protection is increasing.

We would like to seize the opportunity to thank everyone who visited our stand and shared their impressions and feedback with us.

We would also like to thank all those who supported us in organizing and running the event.
